There is an existing poll from 2002 with outdated options so I thought I'd post an updated poll
Edit:
This is a multiple choice poll because many people mix and match their players to suit different media types.

I use WMP for most video files, Winamp for audio, Media Player Classic for a qt and real alternative, and VLC player for stuff that is in ISO and such ;)
I use winamp for everything
I use winamp for videos mainly, but it seems the last versions are a little heavy..
VLC WMP RealPlayer LoL A lot
Nero Showtime
winamp vlc mpc
Media player classic for videos, hardly uses any resources.
mpc and winamp mainly, but also others
kmplayer , since vlc doesn't work properly with vista
I use media player 10, I found winamp to be a beast on resources. I tried media player 11, found it horrible for loading times.
VLC uses no codecs :)
Media Player Classic with klmcodec
i like nero showtime too
foobar (modified well) > winamp > wmp
Media Player Classic rules!! :D
I like BSplayer for watching video, and winamp for music.
vlc, so fking easy to use
I use WMP for general stuff and I also use VLC because it will play just about anything out there.
I selected the ones I have, but I mostly use WMP 11 with Klite Codec pack.
I use foobar, which funny enough i only found out through this forum, for all my music files. Video files i pretty much just use media player classic and vlc.
i use winamp and sometimes windows media player
I like wpm11!!
*chants* Win-amp! win-amp! win-amp!
:-D
foobar for music and media player classic for videos
Media Player Classic!
VLC and BSplayer
winamp mainly for tunes vlc for vids
bsplayer and winamp
WMP and Winamp.
I'm surprised that iTunes is not on the list.
Is there something y'all know about media players that I don't?
VLC mostly. I like its simplicity!
I voted "other". I use ZoomPlayer which is great and sometimes GOM Player which is almost as good.
most reliable is vlc
if only it had a pop up seeker.
Itunes used to use Winamp.
I've pretty much used all of them, so I ticked the ones I enjoyed using.
VLC & Winamp for most everything.
I like Quicktime though if I'm watching streaming video.
I also use this one, mainly for internet radio http://www.cowonamerica.com/download/
If you are seeding music torrents never use WMP as it actually changes the files, slightly, in the folder, and you will find your seed showing up dark red meaning the data has been corrupted. ( If you attempt to play them while seeding; foobar and winamp are ok, but why take the risk? )
I use for the rest Foobar for ripping mainly flac files and winamp for internet radio...
Windows Media Player
DivX Player
VLC
Nero
mpc/vlc all the way :|
