I don't know if you've ever owned a pair of Wolverines, but they can be extremely comfortable. I've had a couple pair in my lifetime. The pair of full length DuraShock boots I have right now are more comfortable than any pair of running shoes I've ever owned. I love them.

What I think of as the classic ones look something like this:

But nowadays there are lots of models to choose from, depending on what you need them for.

i always got red wings for construction, if your using them for anything else, they would look stupid or gay.
lowa's are great boots, but in the united states military--they give you the cheapest, most uncomfortable boots, ever made.
it would suck if the german military has better boots than the united states.

Docs are great for the Scottish weather. Particularly the snow, where they keep your tootsies dry and warm. They are also comfortable to wear, for a boot.
