how important is tracker layout?

how important is the layout and the design of a tracker to you?

please rate on a scale from 1 to 5.

with 1 meaning "i don't care at all" and 5 "very important"

4 for me. It's like with food for me - if it looks nasty I probably ain't gonna eat it, even if it tastes good. Yes, I'm picky.

my vote go to 4 for me layout is very important and it will be interesting to see how will peps vote.

I should've pick 1 or 2 (I picked 3:( ) since I don't really care about it, some tracker have ugly (personal opinion?) layout but I still use it since I prefer speed/pre/content :P

4 - this is important cuz i dont want a site look like a garbage

ugly sites are an eyesore and makes you not wanna visit them and browse them unless its the only place where you can find something. i vote 4

if the tracker is good , i dont think people would really care about the layout

the layout must be at the bottom of user preferences. However sites like PT or ChronicTracker makes me wish i was blind

2. For me, it's a nice plus if the tracker has a nice layout, but definitely it's not the reason why I would use a site or stop using it.

I´d say about a 3-4.
For example even though Tvtorrents is a good site I still wouldn´t use it cuz it looks disgusting.

I voted 2, it's always nice to have a good looking site but it's just a bonus since it's all about sharing the files in the end.

I voted 5, simply because you can get almost any file from anywhere, but a site that looks pleasing to the eye are few and far between...

It's like comparing a Merc CLS500, a BMW M5, a Mitsi EVO and and Suburu STI. They will all do 0-60 in under 6 seconds, but it is how they do it...

Do you want the luxury of the Merc, or the panache of the BMW, or the 4 wheel traction of the Suburu, or the raw power of the EVO...

Sites are no different. Some people want all the bells and whistles, while others prefer a simplistic, and easy to navigate, design.

People say that it's the files that count, but remember the files are wrapped by the site layout, much like Christmas presents, and the better the wrapping, the better the feeling.

You have to feel good about a place to be able to interact freely with it, otherwise it is a false feeling.

I think every good trackers do have a nice layout don't they ?

I voted 4. An attractive, well laid out design is easier on the eyes. However, functionality is pretty important too!

If its going to be a site I am visiting every day, then yeah it should look halfway decent.

I voted 3, as I think a site's looks is somewhat important. I do have to admit that I find myself visiting sites which are nicer on the eyes more than others with similar content.

It's very important, especially when the tracker is trying to compete with other trackers offering the same content.
However it still isn't the most important thing.
For instance, Blackcats has a terrible design, but no other site can compare to the content.
But for the most part, there is an attractive choice for every type of tracker.
Blackcats is the only ugly tracker I use.

Ok, i get the message hehe :)

I have been learning photoshop and a few other things over the past month or so, im not saying expect anything pro looking or even any time soon, but i will have a go at something over the coming weeks. but im a total noob at css atm, but when i do put my mind to it, i can learn fast.

since MOST trackers use similar layouts...i want to say not very important

BUT....

a tracker like tvtorrents makes me say VERY IMPORTANT

I have, on more than one occasion. We have even got designer forums that everyone on the tracker can participate in.

So its not like we havnt tried to get better designs, just no one has come forward and made any (plenty of avatar and sig designers, when it comes to tracker design they dont want to know lol)

look at a site like STmusic
i know people including myself that will not use it because of how bad it looks!
and I have to agree the look of a site is a big selling point.
