Hey I'd be interested to know the actual difference between these two... (besides the potential security flaw that's apparently not an issue on either of them now)
edit: right now my (completely uneducated) vote is 1.6.1.

The newer version always has additional features that older version doesn't has, despite of it's stability I think I would keep choosing 1.7.6, even though someday it's reported having trouble/bug, it'll get fixed in time.
On the other side, the trackers will keep go on with the new version. They surely always update their torrent client lists from time to time. So we, their users, just have to keep follow their rules :)

Using 1.7.6 version now and it works good to me.
1.8 is a major improvement over any previous version.

well I did prefer 1.6.1 but it doesn't really bother me that I had to upgrade for most of my trackers
Honestly right now i really don't notice any difference, but my vote goes to uTorrent 1.6.1 only cause i been using for 2 1/2 years.

This discussion is pointless since almost all trackers have banned 1.6.1.
