is this some kind of wind up trick thing. of course he is, isnt that what all rap is?
While not being a fan of Eminem or rap in general, I suppose composing lyrics is a form of poetry.
aint this gonna be moved ? cos its to do with music - anyways i would say yes but dont call him that - it sounds a bit too fruity for him
Its just a differant kind of poetry. I say that he is. ;)
Nope he's just a sick man saying what ever he wants on his records.
i dont know much about rap, or poetry but the thing he did at the end of 8mile impressed me. if he is able do improvising like that then i'd say he was worthy of any title
I dont think he wrote 8 mile thoughQuote:

i'd say without a doubt
His songs are the softcore of the rap indutry. You just think his bad becuse his white.

some where before it still doesent mean that I aprove of it.
I dont think that poisoning kids and making money out of it is poetry!
i think he has a great talent.
he has just set out to shock the audience to boost sales.
still he has the power to control and perverse kids minds, and thats what i dont like about him.
for someone who is so politically uncorrect to be seen as a role model is sickening to me.
i watched him live a few years ago.
did nowt for me. :(
(i do love "8 mile" though.)
Nope I hate rap in generalQuote:

Johnny Cash wrote more songs about killing people than probably anyone else, doesn't/didn't make him evil.
I think they have dropped the 'C' in rap. It should be carp. Oh no Fish would object to that. I suppose we will settle for crap then.
eminems a great role model
For who?
Thats rigth he did, but he descibe how he did it too.Quote:

Yeah, he certainly grates.
Edit: eminem, that is.
Short of cash kills more people.
eminems a great role model for kids, its easy to relate to someone with a life like that, plus hes a good example of someone who climbed out of the shit and made a great life for himself.
Not sure about him being a great role model his choice of words gets him noticed but he does tell it as it is and i'm not 100% sure but i think 8 mile was his biography.
no, it wasn'tQuote:

there are some similarities though
No its no a bio of him. He said he didnt want to do it about him but that it had alot that related. Also whoever said he wrote no he didnt.
Arent all poets/classic authors "Shocking" in their time?
Personally i think he's crap.
Cant sing, lyrics are shit..tunes usually shit.......and he's a Dickhead.
However i'll put that down to a Generation thing, as a lot of younger people seem to idolise him.
examples:
Will the real Slim Shady please stand up, please stand up, please stand up...
Poetry? How?
Its crap, repetitive, shit lyrics, shit tune...
Momma, i didnt wanna hurt you, didnt wanna make you cry, but tonight, im cleaning out my closet...
Again, not poetry ........however i have to admit to finding this one catchy and liking the tune...
Looks like the young uns will have to find another hero that us old geezers dont like ;)
"you couold date a stick of dynamite and still not go out with a bang"
come on, now that's poetry
he is very talented though (to a majority), and very popular...
At least he is doing something..............
which affects something............................(in the right way)

I think Eminim is more of a poet than many other rappers. Poetry is a diverse and ever changing form of literature. Just because you might not agree or be comfortable with the content , imagery, or theme of someone's work doen't mean that it isn't poetry.
I guess the real question should be what constitutes poetry and why?
Para 1 - agreed.Quote:

Para 2 - a, that would be 2 questions not 1 and b, don't be condescending.
Not having read the main body of the thread, I'll give my opinion..
Yes, I rather think he is a poet.
