Have most of you guys upgraded yet? I had been putting it off on the assumption that some trackers wouldn't automatically accept it. Have all of the main ones given this client the green light?

I've heard good things about and have been itching to upgrade, especially since I reformatted my computer after my RC expired. But it still hasn't been whitelisted at a few of the trackers that I download most frequently from(mainly BCG), so I had to make sure to find an older version off the utorrent forums rather than use 2.0 :dabs:.
the upgrade hit me pretty bad....lost all my torrents 5 timesafter the upgrade..the most recent loss was yesterday, never had this happened before to me..loading them again is a pain..let me tell u guys theres another upgrade i got after the version upgrade
Still using 1.8.2/14458. I'm waiting for a few upgrades to smooth out the wrinkles, I've heard some bad things about 2.0.
Using 1.8.5(17414)
I haven't yet, not whitelisted @ several of my trackers yet, and besides, given the history of the 1.7x and 1.8x series, imo it never does much harm to hold off updating utorrent for a short while.
still using 1.85 becoz not sure of 2.00 yet
It's whitelisted on most of my trackers, so I upgraded right after uT 2.0 was released. Working fine right now, no issues, crashes or something yet. Also, uTP seems to be working fine and netload decreased a bit.
Yes I have updated it for quite some time now. The feature I love most is the new statistics page. :)
I'm on 1.8.5 so far. Can't wait to try 2.0, but it still isn't approved at BitMeTV and BitMe.
I will only upgrade when required; when ver.1.8.5 is banned on one of the tracker that I have account. I don't see any need to upgrade when the ver. I use is working well for me.
let me hijack this thread for a second: i'd just like to know the main difference(s) between utorrent 1.8.2.0 (build 14458) and utorrent 1.8.5.0 (build 17414). it looks like many torrenters decided to stick with the 1.8.2, that's why i'm asking.
Its probably because they were to lazy to update lol.
I know mine is 1.8.2.0 because I just clicked no every time it asked me to update.
I just had to reformat my main machine, and I got utorrent 2.0 on my main machine (just to see what the all the talk is about).
I only downloaded a file from bitgamer and It worked fine
well, according to some tracker:
uTorrent 1.8.2.0 (build 14458)Quote:
The best, fastest and most recommended versions of uT for usage on a private tracker are
uTorrent 1.6.1 (build 490)
For me it was the least buggy of the 1.8.x versions. I had issues with 1.8.3/4 so I downgraded. Perhaps the final build of 1.8.5 is ok, haven't really tried it.
ok, thanks.
/me is secretly waiting for anon-sbi answer
it's all good for me
Nothing worth mentioning?
I never had any problems with the 1.8.x series, but I have also never used a stable version anymore ever since 1.9 and 2.1 were released. Nowadays I use a mod of 2.1 that emulates 2.0 to the tracker and peers, since pretty much none of the trackers I leech from block that.
this new utp stuff that they're playing with, it is supposed to be the next step and blabla but in reality there is a chance of having problems with it running.. i experienced upload problems with 1.8.5 so i had to turn utp off, since that my 1.8.5 runs just like the good old 1.8.2
i used u torrent 2.0 but it wasnot so good .i like 1.8.5 more
my upload speed was limited by the isp (bcz its crap) that limit is no more since i use utorrent 2.0
I am running the stable revision of 2.0 (18296) with uTP disabled because it was causing some weird behavior. Everything appears smooth now. I've had a problem with net flooding or traffic shaping so having uTP turned off isn't that big of a deal.
There have been a lot of changes between the versions (check the changelogs for details). Some of the changes were related to security issues found in the client that should not affect users of private trackers, if I recall correctly.
Also, I've spoken to some knowledgeable people who claim uT 1.8.5.0 sometimes reports stats incorrectly.
I tried it and my sown/up speed decreased by 15% , so I rolled back to 1.8 .
thanks for the info .
so what does that really change ?
Well, uTorrent 1.X never had that bandwidth management option..
The second's just disabling the TCP controlling on the client, very apparently.
net.low_cpu would also most probably mean having the option for uTorrent to use a set amount of cpu usage in case of a memory leakage like Firefox used to have. I use a bot which has such an option too.
I don't understand why people are so enthusiastic to upgrade to vers.2?
the version 2.0/2.1 beta so bad.. so slow.. alot of bugs..
i'm on utorrent 1.8.5 the best for me..
Unticking "Enable bandwidth management" disables uTP. Setting bt.tcp_rate_control to false prevents uTorrent from using uTP transport info as a hit to limit the TCP speeds as well. And setting net.low_cpu to true will cause a very slight reduction in CPU usage (and speeds).
BitMeTV has banned uTorrent 2.0
The best TV torrent site there is....
thats all she wrote
utorrent has dug its own grave
I like uT 2.0
BMTV say no no to uT 2.0
I don't like uT 2.0
I like uT 1.8
You like BMTV
