So you're a chick?
So you're a chick with bad taste?
OK one from column A - Historical Drama : A Man for All Seasons ..... or Zulu for the stiff upper lip heroics
One from column B - Historical Dharma ( movie humour .I crack me up): Grosse Point Blank.
One from column C - Horror : The Exorcist . I'm tempted to put Jaws but I saw it again recently and the "town" scenes haven't age well. Also Alien but I prefer happier endings .
Speaking of townies ,column D ,Sports Movies : Breaking Away .Again a close call with several baseball movies - Field of Dreams, Bull Durham (not that it's really about baseball), The Natural , a football movie or two, notably Brian's Song and of course Chariots of Fire and both the Prefontaine movies not to mention Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner ( again not really about the running - at least literally - though) and of course being Canadian , Slap Shot.
What's that leave, comedies ?Sort of cover that with Grosse Point or Sci-fi ? Alien/Aliens - even though as mentioned the first is a horror movie and the second is a western.
OK then how about another Western - The Warriors mainly for the ending even though I'm assumed to admit that I really like Hill's Streets of Fire better ( sort of love/hate though).
Wait I've changed my mind.
In the Heat of the Night
The Killer
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Bullit
Clerks ....errrrr Dazed and Confused
Umm can you rephrase the question to "name some movies that you've enjoyed"?
^Taste is subjective. How can it be good or bad? :|
For me (no particular order):
-The Hitch
-Bedazzled
-Entrapment
-Freaky Friday (w/ lindsay lohan)
-Home Alone
Eh I don't know. I don't care much about the art aspects of a film. I judge a film's worth by figuring how good watching it felt. So, I'd rather choose the feel-goodness of Bedazzled over the awe in Heath Ledger's acting in The Dark Knight.
The one with Brendan Fraser. Haha Diff stroke for different folks.Quote:
Bedazzled At least tell me that's it's the Dudley Moore/Peter Cook one.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Wow Better Off Dead is sort of out of left field . I guess with that and the other movies on your list it's safe to assume approximately when you were a teenager.
Btw I'm a major fan of all things John Cusack .
Well up until America's Sweethearts at least.

Isn't sayingyou've seenyour favorite movie is a J**** F***** movie a BAN-ABLE offense?
My guess if it isn't, it's ONLY because it has NEVER happened before.
Good to see you're trying out the comma thing. Keep on plugging, kiddo.
Try to regard it as representative of your breathing. Up until now, you came across as an intelligent Dennis Leary.
For further reading, check out Samuel Beckett's How It Is. A novel devoid entirely of punctuation and left trusting to the reader's asthma.
In other news, you're a cunt. Woo hoo!!
Also, The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner is one of my favourites. For obvious reasons.
I think Sillitoe died recently. Which kinda refreshed it for me.
Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket
The Big Lebowski
Rear Window
Old Boy
The Guardian
Scarface
Gladiator
Troy
The Hangover
Starsky & Hutch
The Gold Rush
City Lights
Star Wars
The Extra-Terrestrial
The Lord Of The Rings
scarface
hitman
8 miles
willow
spacejam
I would have gone with The Great Dictator or Modern Times although Chaplin's genius shines brightest in Limelight .
Laughter is actually a response to pain ,not joy( why do you think that you laugh when someone falls down?) a fact that Chaplin was acutely aware of.
In no particular order...
-Alien
-Goodfellas
-Chicago (close runner up, Cabaret)
-Fargo
-The Fall
I'm assuming that we're making a distinction between "great" and "favorite" movies here.
There are lots of great films whose merits I admire without feeling compelled to watch them repeatedly.
taxi driver
AI
kill bill 1
hmmm, difficult to keep it to 5, surely a lot are gonna be left out, but ok, here's my take:
The Abyss!!! (Just perfect!)
The Shawshank Redemption
The Notebook
Blood in Blood out (too bad very few people know about this movie! it's a great one)
Legends of the Fall
but so many more are egual in greatness to those above, for my taste at least.
"the shawshank redemption" outclass movie
The scene from The Abyss in which Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio are trapped in the flooding sub is one of my personal favorites.Of course Cameron always knew his way around an emotionally charged set piece.
That said I think The Abyss falters badly at times and I'm not sure that the ending got it right.
Legends of the Fall ,the best part was the last line.
TiTANiC
SiN CiTY
SPiDER MAN
A WALK TO REMEMBER .. etc
titanic
blood diamond
departed
The usual suspects.
