I doubt in the end really matters much whatever he is dead or not. I mean it is good that such a person is removed from that organisation, he was afterall a key figure and clearly know how to provoke people in doing what he wanted and know how to orginised these attacks, but at the end you just killed the queen and the other bees are now mad at you ready to sting you.
megabyteme, Because Al Qaeda has been angels since 9/11. There have been attacks after 9/11 and I am pretty sure that he has had his hand in some of them. Beside that what made you think he was sick or even old? He was clearly a healthy man who could still hold a weapon and use an other person as a shield.

To clarify my earlier post... Yes, it is probably good that he is no longer a mythical rebel evading the all mighty US. However, he was not nearly as key as he has been made out to be. He has been on kidney dialysis, and hiding in caves for years. With poor health, and rough conditions- yet alone the constant pressure of being found and executed could not have been an easy decade.
I am against this war, the lies told to get us in, and the countless lives (both American soldiers, and innocent civilians of a sovereignsandpithell holenation) that have been needlessly ended.
Was he part of it, yes. At this point, I am so tired of the pointless, expensive, ineffective, justified-under-false-pretenses, murderous war that I cannot say I am "happy" to hear of another death- regardless of who it is, or his part in 9/11.
Now that we are "celebrating", and announcing this across the world, I am certain this will bring about "terrorist" attacks, and certain civilian deaths. Yeah.

The symbolic factor is more important than the actual consequences for the organisation of world wide terrorism. He had become a symbol of 'resistance' in certain extremist cirlces and now that symbol is gone. The psychologic effect is not to be underestimated, as it proves to the rest that every one of them can be caught or killed. While most terrorists are fanatics who accept that threat as part of their fate, some are not and could be 'convinced' to cooperate now.
Whatever though, as long as mankind exists, there will always be people willing to kill for political or religious reasons. Terrorism can not be defeated entirely, especially when states use terror as a means to enforce their interests, it can only be contained.

As someone who masterminded and sanctioned the killing of thousands of innocents, he had to be hunted down until the day he died.

Minutes after Obama finished his speech, the cameras showed a group of people out in front of the White House waving flags. Where does one get a full sized American flag on a six foot steel pole at midnight in the nations Capital. Most of the flags I saw were full or near full sized which seemed awful fishy too me, as if the White House ordered all its employees working that night to grab a flag and go outside and wave it.
Then this morning its revealed that they know its Osama from DNA. What? You can't do a DNA test in a few hours! Finally they say he was buried at sea, gee how convenient. This whole thing stinks of some dastardly plan by the powers to be. Then I realized what probably really happened. It came to me after they said no Americans were hurt and that one helicopter was shot down. If a helicopter were really shot down there would likely be injured Americans and what better way to explain one less helicopter came back to the ship, than to say it was shot down. It's more likely the lost helicopter had the real Osama on it, alive and ready for information extraction. He was probably taken somewhere secret. Wouldn't you think he could supply some good intel if pressured properly? I had to laugh when someone at the White House or Military said they buried him at sea to prevent any conspiracy theories. What? For gods sakes that's the way you start a conspiracy not prevent it.
I haven't trusted this corrupt Government for some time now. I don't think this story is going to hold water, and it's certainly not going to bring back my trust. So you say you got Osama, well how about doing something about the oil prices or cable TV mini monopolies and phone fee corruption now HUH? His death doesn't mean anything, he's already made his long lasting impact on multiple states' domestic and international policies. Not only that, he has already made it easier for citizens of multiple states to allow themselves to be subjugated (more than before) by their policymakers. Not being either fanatical or Muslim I can't say with certainty but the lead in the head seems to be a trifling more off-putting than whether or not some Christian clergyman was ordered into insincerely speaking a few words over the body before they feed it to the guppies.
