This has been brought up many times before and is usually pleaded for by FC, but it isn't going to happen so I would just try to realize that it's not up to you and move on.
And I'd like to ask, why the hell not?
because little people  wud make em all the time an the borad wud be chaos
people will abuse it
Well they should atleast remove the "Start new poll" button <_<
does it annoy u that much <_< i think u shud put up with it its a very very small price to pay for such a great forum :D
I think we should have a poll on who should be able to start polls ! :D

The mods and admins have been more than generous lately, why not appreciate what they have done, and quit asking for more? some people are never satisfied.... <_<
No, some people never make up their minds. :P Should I plea for a poll? Nah, it wouldn't do anything good.
I'll plea for a Bookworld poll. :D
:ninja:
Edit to add: That's really the only thing I could make a decent poll about. ;)
I don't see why we can't be able to start polls just let the mods control the content. The other boards i'm on everyone is able to start polls and nobody gets carried away.Let the mods decide if it's a usless poll or not they can always remove it.
Maybe this forum is just not right for me...I see that we can't make polls and dont have the option of stars...
If the poll button is removed it's no longer possible to make polls, so that's impossible.Quote:

If you have a request for a poll, feel free to post it in THIS THREAD. :)
I don't see what it would hurt to create a special forum in the Off-topic section where anyone can start a poll. Of course they shouldn't count toward post totals.
Isn't this something of a poll? It may not have a special indicator saying that this thread is a poll, but for all intents and purposes, that is exactly what this is. So, what are you whining about? You have what you want right here.
btw, where is FC?
There is a thread about that in the lounge. :DQuote:

I'm glad you like your new sig.
bad idea, not only it will spam this forum with pointless polls about whos penis size is bigger but the idea of the subject will dull. Before you act on and say something back to me, think. We have many members here, alot, you, me and some other might have some common-sense of what should be posted, or at least useful to know, though others, many others...you get the point. Mods, admins, I believe this right it left on to you and it should say this way. Don't let users, or none-mods, admin, to make polls. It will only spam the forum with useless information.
If you really want to allow none-mods,admins make polls, then pick a hand few people who deserve it, not everybody. this is my opinion, dont trash it or flame at me. <_<
kAb and Nobody1234
where did you get your cool sigs?? :shifty:
I think polls should be allowed to be started by anyone, but only in the Lounge. I can't see any harm in that. :o
ok, now, let's be a bit realistic. This board has about 11,000 members, imagine what would happens if everyone of them wants to start only 1 poll....
ok, it is said, that perfect chaos is perfect order, but I don't think this is the place to try that out
Hardly any of them want to post at all, why would they want to start a poll? :lol:Quote:

Not every one will want to start a poll
IMHO...we shouldnt be allowed to start polls,it would be total chaos!!Some cant answer people in a respectful manor yet so i'd hate to imagine what polls would come up. :spam: :spam: and plenty of it.. ;)
The way I see it, starting a new poll is like starting a new thread(post). there isnt much chaos the way it is, and there wouldnt be any is we couls start polls.
I disagree with you there, try asking the mods if there is chaos on here sometimes and how many posts have to be moved or deleted so why add to it by allowing anyone to start polls.11,000 members here so really dont think it would work and would make mods unpopular for having to delete 'crap' polls all the time.Quote:

This is already a great board. Maybe in the future we can start polls but for now, no, we can't. This board has been great and is great. So either stick with it or don't.
Well, it never hurts to ask.
I agree with you Crono. I guess some people are just affraid of change. Would some users abuse it? Of course they would. That's why it should be limited to the Lounge where spam is sometimes permitted and posts don't count towards a user's total. Many other boards allow user-created polls without the 'chaos' so many seem to fear. If someone starts a stupid, pointless poll, most users will ignore it and it'll get pushed down the list. It wouldn't hurt to try it out for a while and see what happens.Quote:

I think the Mods are worried that we'll start voting to make changes to the board, and it'll make them look bad if they don't act on the results. That's a valid concern, but they could simply pin a post to the top of the Lounge stating that user-created polls are for fun only, and they won't be used to alter board policies.

Think it's a bit short sighted to blame it on fear for change and worried mods.... ;)
imo we would have doubles/triples polls.. see people post. Imagine some new one stumbles in sees he can start a poll went to the lounge starting
where you all from...
next one comes what's your age....
next one how much do you dl
next one where you all from...
next one comes what's your age....
that will happen... we have to many new users every day.. people don't tend to look further then the page shown to them 2nd pages sometimes but that's it... The lounge, just checked back one month (26 days) 18 pages, times 20 topics.... one month... new people don't read that much back in time. A lot don't know how to search to...
Ask people that are around longer, they all seen those kinda post several times..... Think this "free" poll idea will kill the lounge and kill the poll. It is better, if you have a good idea, to ask one of the mods/admins. We're willing to make a good and intresting poll if needed. If you feed to much we will have plenty of polls with only a few replies, what's the use of those?? B)
edit where i said 18 pages really are 22 pages...!!
Not to change the subject, but you brought up a good point Jetje:
This is another question/suggestion I've had for some time now. Is there any way to make the 'Search' function more obvious to Newcomers? Maybe a big, bold button at the top, instead of just that one tiny little word. Or maybe even a search text field right on top of the main page.Quote:

Klite was not having the problem of excessive polls. There was a normal, controlled amount of polls so I don't know where the sudden preoccupation about spams with polls came from <_<
What do you mean.....??? No it wasn't because it's controlled by admins and mods....!
If you mean in the past, yes sure there were around 1000 members when you signed up...
Have you seen the stats now.
So again what do you mean, did you read this whole thread? Or were you just replying? <_<
what don't you understand? Yes I did read the whole thing you posted. I have a feeling you don't like me Jetje, I don't know why. Is it because I disagree with what Klite is doing and I feel free to express it?Quote:

I meant: Why do we need to prohibit polls if they weren't even used that much? Why the sudden worry if they weren't being spammed with that much?

I don't know about jetje, but I can say that I don't like you. You are a rabble rouser and a stirrer. You are the sort of arse that this forum can do without.
I have yet to see a post by you that wasn't intended to either start or continue discord amongst the members. I have every reason to believe that this is deliberate.
Are you familiar with the phrase fit in or fuck off. I have never been particularly fond of it, but in your case I am happy to make an exception.
It is seldom in life that one meets someone who is so obviously a prick. I am proud to say that I have met you and that you fit all of the criteria.
Wow, that was a bit harsh. But its ok, you have your opinion on me and I don't mind. Im not always trying to contradict but its just that the past few things that have been happening in this forum haven't made much sense to me. Can you complain that it doesn't make sense to me?
I see it as this: you think im an "arse" because I disagree and express as I wish...if I agreed, or if I didn't post freely, perhaps you wouldn't think so.
No I am fed up with this.Quote:

Fuck off. Go back to ES5. That's your site, it's how you hope to make a living, if you are not doing so already. If you want to advertise it then why don't you just say so. You are a pornmonger who is also trying to sell pay per view events, using sharing as your cover.
If anyone here sees the evidence and can't understand it then please feel free to give him your money. Your choice. I'm fed up with the whole thing.
