Alright, as the title states, I have downloaded a file. I have tried opening the file from both Azureus and by locating it on my hard drive. The file size shows as it should, however, when I try to open it, it doesn't open. This happens with all files I have downloaded. Anyone have any suggestions?
what's the extension of the file name? e.g. .rar or .exe or .zip
It is a .rar file. Should have specified that in my original message. This has happend with .zip files as well. Perhaps they are corrupted?
do you have winrar installed on your machine?
You need something to unpack the archive
I use WinACE. When I locate the file, I can open it, but it does not show the contents of the file, it instead shows the contents of my desktop.
When I right-click and choose to extract it to a folder, it extracts nothing.
EDIT: Like I said, do you think the archives are corrupted?
Use winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/
Well now, that worked. Never thought it would be the program I was using to unpack the files. Thank you kindly for your help.
thnx
has anyone noticed that it is taking much more ram than the past version?
Anyone seen any of those Azureus mods around?
Found a few, but there not what Im looking for
Mods? Try searching plugins instead.
Theres a few actual mods for Azureus now,(like all the eMule Mods) been around for a while and I cant find the one I want..(Extra Low resources used etc)
All I can find is these bloody no-upload modded ones
Hi, Im corrently downloading a 9GB Season using Azureus, and I know Bittorrent tends to be slow, but anyways, I tought I´d show you my settings, and may be you can tell me how I am, or what to change, cus, im downloading like 250MB in 6 hours, is that good?
Ok, next I put my settings:
-Tracker: Active
-Uploads Limit: 10
-Upload limit: 16 kbps
-Download limit: 40 kbps (only goes up to 16 at most)
Input port: 6881
UDP Protocol: Active
Upload Max Speed: 40 kbps
Download Max Speed: 50 kbps
Ok, tose are the main setting,
hope you can add some info based on your own experience.
Ide change the port when you get a chance.
Also is that actually your max dl speed...

What do you mean about changin my Post?
and about the Dld speed, thats just the setting, but It just gets up to 16 kbps.
and why are my seeds and clients in this format, 00(00),
and is there a way to increase them?
ooh, one other thing,
does it make big diference if I have more than one thing downloading at a time?
I meant port, whoops...Quote:

Many trackers block the satndards...
Yes RealitY, now I know what you mean...
for example, I have this tracker,
http://just example:6969/announce
does 6969 means anything?
Point is some ISP throttle standard ports such as the one your using which would make you leech without knowing it so many trackers now block user on those ports so change it...
Change max uploads to 5 if your max upload is 16 kbpsQuote:

set download limit to 0: unlimited
input port: change it. I use 1201
I have the UPnp plugin disabled.

I have all options disabled.
If you have a router make sure to port forward it.
Hi guys, I was wondering in the TorrentSpy forums, and from the coments of the people there, I get the impresion that, even if slow download speeds are common, many of them have had grat speed at some point in theys downloads, and Im not talking about 30 or 40kbps, no im talking like even 100kbps.
So, the most I´ve got on BT is like 40kbps (on a 700Mb soundtrack), but now I have a file (8Gb Season), that wont go over 15kbps and it has 11 Seeds,
then my question is this, ¨is there a way to increase the seeds? opening the posibility of a speed increase.
...all this besides all the other settings.
1. If 11 seeds then how may peers
2. What client are you using
3. Do you have a Green light
4. Do you have a router/nat
Well RealitY, Im doomed then,
11 seeds, 37 peers...
using Azureus
almost never get ¨the green light¨, always blue or yellow at most,
and I dont know if I have a router,
is there a way to know?
Well if there are a few Seeds an alot of peers it may be slow to start although the ratio there is not that bad. If you never get the Green light then your connection is poorly setup which means you will connect to less sources and thus less speeds.Quote:

As for AZ its a very good client and may get more sources compared to other clients so nothing wrong there although it takes more resources. Anyway did you ever change your port and if so to what. Also you still need to figure out if you have a router or not and if so which one,,,
Humm, I only change ports from 6881 to 6889,
and about a router, as I told you earlier, I dont know how or where it is suposed to be, but lets see, I have my CPU, from there a cable that goes to my CableModem and from there the cable that goes out of the house...
and if I never get the green light, what do you think it coul be that I have not set?
also Reality, as you seem to be the only one trying to help,
when I loose conection with a tracker, (if it goes ofline for a wile,
is there a way to change or find another that has the same file?
Change the port to random number above 5000 and see what happens after you close and reopn the client.
As for offline trackers you can wait or find the same file on another tracker and continue it there if you want...
This is the what 3rd thread about the same problem worldpease???
merged.
I-K-E, I know, Its just my perspective about it that has change,
anyway, I´ll plan my posts better in the future,
besides, Im gettin the hang of it, so, you will see less of me
...I hope, lol.
but tank you everyone for bearing with me here.
I'm dloading bad santa from torrentspy and am experiencing really bad speeds. I'v tried other sites and torrents but no luck.
currently downloading
Bad Santa
20 seeds
22 peers
only 5 kbs dloading and 5 kbs uploading (Im not leeching)
I'm on 300k broadband (so is this normal, cause a mate is getting much better speeds on a 56k)
and for some reason the health bar is always yellow
do you have a port open in your router/firewall for it?
firstly im a total n00b at computers.
I have mcafee firewall and dont know what a port is.
Hi!
Most of the time there's a problem with port-forwarding.
I found this site, and my problems were solved ... :partytime
http://www.portforward.com/default.htm
hope it helps you too
Help, how do I open the ports 6881 and 6969 on mcafee
ok done
Testing port 6881 ... OK !
azureus test^
Its still yellow
use a different port, a lot of sites blacklist 6881-6889, pick something else for example I use 7882
done, but still yellow
I think it might be the torrent after all
seeds have gone down to
12(19808)
peers are
12(84334)
any website recomendations
