IKE you forgot to capitalize the thread title.
Are we talk bits or bytes?
I don't do that...Quote:

 You guys have something wrong somewhere
@25kbs it takes 38 mins acording to file prog :)
I decided to upload direct but it does'nt tell me transfer rate, I'm presuming I get max which is 1/4meg, even at 1mb upload it would take longer than 6 mins

Should be about 45 minutes.
250kb(max 30KB) will take you over 25Mins to upload 80meg file.
You guys forgot to multiply by 8. 8 bits in a byte.
So it would take around 42 min
If I only got a 1mb conection how the hell would I get 250kb/s? :frusty:
It's still fecking going
Right, so 250kb, is 25kb/s wich means 1 meg would take just under 7 mins?
Which means 85 megs will take.......nah that can't be right
Never could work this kb/s bits and bites and shit :frusty:

Yeah ok so instead of taking the piss would someone like to explain how this works please? :)
Yes it did take around 40 mins, but how does this work, I have a 250kb max upload which gives me approx 25kb/s upload, so 25kb is1 40th of a meg, therefore 1 meg would take 400 seconds to upload, that's the logic, but not the fact, because I don't get all this kbits and Kbits, it's fucking stupid, like the old playstation mem cards were not 1 megabite, they were 1 megabit, but they conned people by selling them as 1Mb.
Getting annoyed now

Well, one cannot just read the numbers and expect the Max-connection-speed to
aply all the time, it depends on many things. The protocol, receivers speeds etc...
Dont let it get to ya J.
:cool2:
Im going to assume you mean 85,000,000 bytes (83007.8125 kbytes)
If you freakin want to be exact about it:
250/8 = 31.25 kB/s (bytes)
83007.8125/31.25 = 2656.25
2656.25/60 = 44.27083333... minutes
he did say 1 meg will take under 7 minsQuote:

@Dan......That does'nt say I'm transfering at 250kb/s  It says I have a 250kb upload connection, it also says earlier in the post that I got a 1mb conection which would make uploading at 250kb/s impossible :P
@Singaboy.......In english please  Not all of us have a high iq :(
@GS..... No actually most of the time when d/ling - u'lind when not using 3rd party software I get full, 25kb/s u/k and average 112kb/s d/l, Quite happy about that :-) <- have to do that cos of limited smilies
And it is getting to me, In a bad mood now :-)
Jonno
And this is fucking annoying

2656.25/60 = 44.27083333... minutes - the seconds divided by 60 to give you minutes
Does that help? :frusty:
250 refers to your speed that speed tests and your ISP states your speed is. Which they all refer to your speed in bits. Almost everything else uses bytes. There are 8 bits in one bit. That is why I divided 250 by 8, to get you kilobyte speed.Quote:

That gave me how many total seconds were needed to complete the transfer. I then divided that by 60 to turn it into minutes.
EDIT: Damn you DanB :P
Ok I think I got that, thankyou both.
still think it's fucking stupid, why name them bits and bytes, kb and kb are 2 different things, what a fucked up system, and why have it divisible by 8, another stupid fucking idea
