That's why I'm not here to help constantly. He keeps disappearing for long periods of time and not answering stuff. And this thread has been going on too long to continue to have interest.
Maybe he's fu*kin' with us?Quote:

Big dawg clearly looks up to the more knowledgeable people around the board, such as yourself, VB, 3rd gen, lamsey, etc...but there are those who, and I am not going to mention any names, here, but who, upon reading through the thread, make me cringe as a result of the worthlessness of their posts.
I am learning something here, and I value the knowledge that I am aquiring from those of you who are contributing something of value to this discussion. I am not saying it is bad to poke a little fun at the lil' chap, but I wish those of you with nothing positive to contribute would kindly stop contributing altogether.
No offense.
oh cool i guess you dont like my "contribution".... hell i dont care if you point fingers (and that means if you point me)....
just dont get on the patronizing side of the situation.... you're not the most intelligent person in the world, u know
You make a fair point, Adam.
I try to add a little info in with the joking, but my humor may escape some people.
At the same time though, it is a open public forum so you're going to get the dross with the grain sometimes.
I know: I am super dumb.Quote:

So I say he desevers to be poked fun at just for that.
I still think that Mom + lamp=disaster.

Mushroom cloud.
Snow bank.
Hey DWk, may I suggest that you go back and edit your post about clearing the CMOS? You say to power on while the jumper is at the 'clear' position which is completely wrong and can damage a board. There might be someone else using this information.
ok ima go edit it.... i corrected myself afterwards though lol.... the alcohol effect is out now though ;)
EDIT - ok corrected both :D

go beat some bf1942 gat dammit
Well, I dont get my 9700Pro till Monday, so I'm waiting untill then to bench it guys.
Sorry VB. Just once everything worked I figured why not install windows...lol
Ok, it did restart on its own once...hasnt done it again.
And whenever I click "Turn Off Computer", it doesnt, it restarts it, so I'm kinda wondering about that one.
While formatting my drive and stuff the screen was scrambled all over the place...but I knew what to push so I got it done lol. Sometimes when its running the memory test at startup everything on the screen is scrambled also, but it doesnt seem to hurt anything.
So really it's "kinda" working eh?
Do you have a lot of friends up in Software World?
No, I dont spend much time there
My computer just restarted on me again..for really no reason that I can see...any suggestions? I know theres an option somewhere in windows that says "restart on any error" I dont know where to find that tho lol. Also it doesnt restart. It acts like its gona restart, but just goes to a blank screen. I have to turn it off and back on from there.
im there clocker dont worry ;)Quote:

Either Windows is being flaky or your system is suffering from some instability.
What are your temps?
My system temps are 33C for CPU and 23 for Mobo.
I found the place where it says incase of a system error automaticly restart. I unchecked that box..I think all shall be well now. I remembering this happening a long time ago, that is what I did and everything worked great...we will see
Alrighty then.
Good luck.
BTW,
You don't have to wait for your new video card to bench this baby.
You could run BurnIn test to verify CPU, memory and HDD stability right now and deal with the video separately.
It would also be a good way to check your Windows installation.
I will run some benchmarks, too see how much they relie (cant spell that damn word) on the CPU.
Let me update everything on windows update before I do anything else, and install nortan, officexp pro, and other neccesities!
Clocker, can I do the burn-in test on sisoft Sandra pro? I know it has a burn in test, but will it check memory and all that?
On the restarting...
Turn off the automatic restart on error function.
Start>Control Panel>Switch to Classic View>System>Advanced>Startup and recovery settings> Remove the checkmark from Automatically restart and click ok.
http://server5.uploadit.org/files2/2...utorestart.gif
This should really be in SoftwareWorld.
Already done VB, but thanks for the info
Yeah, I noticed after I posted.
If you are using a version of windows xp pro that you got off of Kazaa I suggest that you change the key before going there because your computer will get blacklisted.
I don't know dawg, I've never used it.Quote:

BurnIn test is a good way to stress different aspects of your rig- you can pick and choose what areas to test and how aggressively to stress them.
You can download a free trial version off the net. The only downside is that you can only run the trial version for 15 minutes ( maybe it's 30, I forget).
After I was satisfied with my settings, the only thing I was looking for was a way to run at 100% CPU usage for extended periods to test my cooling solutions.
Folding@Home has worked out well for this.
I am currently on day 3.5 at full whack and temps are stable at 35c.
Its not off of kazaa I got someone to make me a very nice copy of it and I have used it on a couple of systems FINE. Got updates with no problem. Didnt get it off kazaa.Quote:

I WAS JUST CHILLIN, DOWNLOADING UPDATES AND LIVEUPDATE ON NORTAN, and I got a SYNC out of range..wtf. The only other time ive seen that is when I set my Hz on my monitor too high...and i havnt done nothin to it...hmm <_<
Also it doesnt save all of my settings. Like say I do something to windows like with the start bar its saved. But with the quick launch thing on the start bar it dont stay..and neither do my windows media player setting things. Maybe it will work after I update. How can I change the Key anyway? Or how do I know they wont blacklist that one?
DDDDAAAAMMMMMNNNNN 398 post (including this one) for one computer :o :o
he's a popular kid? Or just a popular topic. Some of us regulars remember the days when the kid used to say "Dell rocks." Now he knows better... ;)
