yes that is the bottom line, but disabling invites forever (even worse, announcing that they will open them and then reneging) is a self-righteous and egotistical solution which in the end fails to achieve the bottom line, and arguably exacerbates the problem.
there are currently traders and sellers inside the site already. the only way to deal with it justly is like all the other sites deal with it: ban the rule breakers but don't penalize the good members and good would-be members.

Seeing as how HDBits staff is so elitist and full of themselves, that actually sounds like a good idea and substitute of the current invite method (er, or lack thereof!!).

Many people I have met on a site like this or a torrent site are good people. Like many people did this week when I heard about hdbits opening up I pm'd a dozen or so regular people i chat with at least once a month and said if u get an extra invite can u hook me up. To me thats what being a good member of the torrent scene does. U help friends enjoy Movies,tv,games, and music......
Nucks, you make a LOT of excellent and valid points, especially w/ regards to trading invites. I seriously have no idea why trading invites are so frowned upon, either (w/ the exception of SELLING invites). When you mention about swapping invites between friends, I was thinking the same damn thing.
I used to borrow games back n' forth between friends the same as you mentioned and view doing the same w/ torrent tracker invites the same. Now, if you happen to trade a good invite to some random nub who leeches one big movie file, doesn't seed, goes away for a month, and gets you both banned, well that's your own damn fault for being an idiot.
Now, back to HDBits, if the staff truly feel this way about a lot of their members (meaning, looking down upon them and frowning), why not revamp their current method of thinking? Why not wipe out low ratio, inactive, and/or non-involved members? 23,000 members. Surely there are lots bad apples in that bunch. Think about it, if only 1% are bad, that's still 230 people!!!!!
Clear out some dead weight, while making way for eager HD-lovers, who SEED and contribute, and who've been waiting to get in for years (like myself, for starters!).
Sadly, I feel the doors to HDBits will be closed for another year and possibly for the rest of its' life (w/ the exception of staff members or VIP members who can, I believe, still give out invites to their buddies).
Re: HDbits,Good news ( or not depending on your point of view)
anyhow, they KNEW it would happen... so why did they announce the opening of invites a week before ?
they could have opened invites for 1 or 2 days without advising any member before the opening, i guess traders and sellers wouldn't have had time to react.

Yah its pretty lame for them to act like they didn't see this coming. Obviously the members that were doing this before are still there.

Well, a couple of idiots have ruined it for you all. There won't be invites on monday.
is it true?

Very sad to hear this.......thanks to these "guys" that caused all the potential good members not getting in.....

yes it is.
By an economical point of view, the longer they keep the invites closed, the more they become a luxury good. Doing this is not a solution.
As some people said before, if they open the invites for 6 hours or so, time to time, for sure genuine members would have time to invite their friends. There wouldn't be even time to sell or trade them.
Re: HDbits,Good news ( or not depending on your point of view)
Like whiteboy said it's a silly "solution" all the sellers/traders are still there and can easily still sell /trade an account at their leisure , the only ones to truly lose out are those people who actually have obeyed the rules and would have used the opportunity to finally invite a friend.
Maybe I'm getting it wrong but it seems that HDbits has already invited the fox into the chicken coop but now thinks that locking the door will fix the problem.

yeah , i agree with u
I don't see why the staffers keep closing invite because of a few sellers....u know , all sites have the same problem
