For the paranoid, having their partial files show up in searches is a way they could be monitored by RIAA/MPAA/BSA even if they hide the completed results and only share legal things.

This means all said E-mule seems to be NO more secure than BitTorrent for specific files. (ie: searches for specific files, like MPAA would do.) The main question is: can you so 'buried deeply' in the network that a search from the 'outside edge' of the network may not find you?

TOO much connectivity is a BAD thing.

well p2ps aren't secure anyway. There pretty much gonna be ways for organisations to find sharers

At the moment I'm using emule alot (since the problems with K++ arose). It takes a bit of time to get going but its good when it does and theres alot of stuff available.

I'm also trying Shareaza to see whether its good enough to replace the emule and BT clients I'm using.

I've still go alot of downloads in K++ though and I use it every once in a while.

I also use SoulSeek as its fantastic for music.

I've tried the rest at some stage or other but have yet to try Irc (although I might once I've set up the rest properly).

thisiswhoweare answered best, but keep in mind that if u have disabled list view for the public, only that one file will be visible. Even then, they would have to dl from u to see that info. Smacks of entrapment, doesn't it?

I can't imagine these guys suing individuals based on a single file; The costs would be enormous. Just like on KL, use the privacy patch and they can't take a screen shot of ur shared folder.

look, if your scared of the RIAA/MPAA... either stop your downloads... or GET A LIFE (as Paul said)...

more people die of cancer than getting caught by the RIAA!!!!!!

keep an updated AV, preferably one with an auto-protect feature (i use NAV)
use the ip blocker (and keep it updated)
firewall (and use the bad ip info in your advanced rules)
look for the tips in here to avoid bad files...
theres so many ways to protect your pc, and none of them complicated ;)
the only real way to be absolutely sure your 100% safe is to not do it at all though
but thats f'n gay :lol: (IMO)

anyway, to my vote, using k++ and emule
(and a new find fore me, thanks to SH, http file server, it rocks :D )
