If you are using a version of windows xp pro that you got off of Kazaa I suggest that you change the key before going there because your computer will get blacklisted.
I WAS JUST CHILLIN, DOWNLOADING UPDATES AND LIVEUPDATE ON NORTAN, and I got a SYNC out of range..wtf. The only other time ive seen that is when I set my Hz on my monitor too high...and i havnt done nothin to it...hmm <_<
Also it doesnt save all of my settings. Like say I do something to windows like with the start bar its saved. But with the quick launch thing on the start bar it dont stay..and neither do my windows media player setting things. Maybe it will work after I update. How can I change the Key anyway? Or how do I know they wont blacklist that one? [/b][/quote]
I wouldn't worry about it if you can access windows update the first time, then you will always be able to. *me thinks
what about 38C with almost no load....
I got 4 case fans, one of them is angled RIGHT onto the CPU and it blows decent air on it. I got 2 intake and 2 exhuast. I got the stock HS on there and used the artic silver exactly correct, and it looked good lol
Also doesnt it take the artic silver like a couple of days of being turned on and off to get to its best?
38C is nothing to worry about. Tiny bit over body temperature.
Well, I think your hardware is fine and I see you are starting to ask too many software questions now so i'm out of here.
lol no i was asking about my temps.
Anyways be a little bitch vb. love ya man thanks for all ur help! :beerchug:
I wouldn't worry too much about your temps- yet.
Get her set up and running properly and then start monitoring and recording your temps for a while.
After you get a sense for how she handles then we can start to optimize things temp-wise.
Alright clocker. I like how you said WE. I would love to have your help wit some cooling lol. Dont worry bout me too much for now guys...i think im doing good.
why is every object refered to as a she? cant it be a he?Quote:

Yeah, Arctic, and other thermal compounds usually take a few days to, oh whats the word...Quote:

Since I have my hands up my PC's ass every few days, I prefer to think of it as a "her".Quote:

You may have a different outlook.
what video card are you using right now? Is it the 9500 pro or the geforce 4 or onboard video? just wondering....

where exactly is the pc ass? basing on my new sig, you could guess i am perfectly straight, if i was a woman i be a lesbian just cuz of her :"> :">
Im usuing the GeForce 4 right now.
Also, when I start my system up, It says system memory at 166Mhz, which is double and at 333. Thats all good right?
Sounds right.
So now that the whole system is put together, how does it run?
Did you follow the install guide/routine that I advised?
Thats how it does, which is why you get different stats on ram, for the FSB rating, and the Memory channel rating, (The Mhz one, in your case it would be 166.)Quote:

Its running great adam.
The only thing is that it says I can change the FSB by small incriments in the manual, but in the bios i can only get 100, 133, 166, and 200....
I got an unlocked barton tho :D
Oh, there should be a setting on that same bios screen, where ,Quote:

Crap, I cant think of the selection setting, but has the options like Optimal, Expert, etc,
Ahh, *pulls out motherboard manual.
There should be a setting called "system Performance" or something of the sort. Their should be option to the lines of Optimal, Turbo, Agressive, and Expert. If you select expert you should be able to fully control the FSB, by one incriments.
Congrats, dude! And you are very fortunate to have gotten an unlocked barton!Quote:

How can you know that it is unlocked?
Thanks John I bet that works!
I got 2696 in 3DMark01...not bad considering before it was 1696..
Im sure it will improve with my 9700Pro
Oh wait amin, unlocked?
How do you know its unlocked?
The unlocked ones have unlocked multipliers the FSB, is unlocked with every CPU I remember, simply because they cant lock that. Thats why you can run different speeds of ram on the same processor, because the CPU isnt set to run on just one FSB.
Congrats, dude! And you are very fortunate to have gotten an unlocked barton!Quote:

I move it around..it doesnt lock that option..so i figured its not locked..lol
Also, my L1 bridge isnt cut...but the serial number or w/e would say that it is locked...L1 bridge isnt cut tho... :D
Whats the serial number on your's? It has something less than 0340 in the numbering?
Oh and btw, you might be able to select different multi's, but have you tried to BOOT with them?
Heh, that happens with some CPUs, you can select the mutlis, but you'll never get to boot with them cause its still locked.
oh..well my serial number is ABOVE that number u said lol...and i havnt tried to boot..so i guess its locked. Why do they lock them?
Well, I guess the press release reason is because people were modifing lower chips, *for example a 2500+ XP, having them show up as a 3200+, and then poof! selling them as 3200+'s.
And dealers were getting good at this two, they would change serials on the outside as well, so you would never know it was a lower end card than what is supposdly was.
So, they lock them, so people can sell purposly overclocked cards, which you just arnt supposed to do, beacuse your not paying for a 3200+, your paying for a 2500+.
Some skeptics say other stuff though, like they locked them because of the new 64bit chips, because you can overclock a 90dollar CPU, to out perform their 800 Dollar CPU's, but thats all nonsesnse anyway. Seeing as how the 64's and the Bartons are in COMPLETLY different classes.
Btw, whats your serial say? Glad you recorded it, or atleast looked at it before you first put it in, lord knows I didnt. Heh.

Its like 433 or something...I duno but its higher then the number. Im sure its locked. Is there any way to unlock it? Anways...I can just up the FSB..my ram can take it...Mushkin PC3200 Level II 2-2-2-6 :D

Go into BIOS and change your settings to give a higher clock speed (don't go nuts here, 50MHZ is enough).
Boot into windows.
Open AIDA 32 and see what clock speed it is displaying.
BTW, we have the same board...

or Fx5600256ddr (from nvidia)
i might return my fx5600 and buy the 9600 if its worth it?
so wts better?
Save up and get a 9800 Pro. They are like £200 now ($250 or something).

How would raising my FSB 50Mhz tell me if the multiplier is locked or not?
Good news!!
I ran 5 rounds of all of the extreme benchmarking test of sissoft sandra 2003pro. Its called the burn in test. It ran for about 2 hours and I had NO cpu trouble at all and everything stayed fine. Everything looks good so far...
Ok, I also just went and messed with some bios settings. I changed the FSB to 185, and the multiplier to 10X. When I rebooted it just went back to default settings which are 1,100Mhz. When I went back into the bios it was still set the way I had it, just on the screen it said 1100Mhz....If possilbe, do I want my RAM to be running as high as it can go, like would it be better having it at 400Mhz and the FSB at 400Mhz. Like will the ram actually run alot faster when its at 400Mhz on benchmarks and stuff?
Ok my RAM is at 2T-2-2-5 ....which one of those should I try to lower for optimal performance?
good fuck howd this thing end up being 30 pages long!!!!!
I duno..some more good news. My CPU is running at about 30C consistantly....at 1.8Ghz...thats pretty nice :D
u never told us what happened with the rest of the problems you had....
