Nah, I think that the prevalence of these type incidents being in the US owes much to the surpression of media from other countries and the massive population of the US.

There are mentally unstable people the world over, not just in America.

Why is everyone harking back to colonial days. I'm sure the point is that the constitutional right to bear arms was a necessity 200 years ago but is not necessarily the case now.

We're talking about today. The fact that Southerners think owning a gun is a way of life has nothing to do with English people or Spanish people - it's because their Dad said it was kewl.

Actually, I was about to edit my post and ask why he was worried about past slavery when modern day slavery is such a massive market around the world.

His post flew right over your head, eh.

The point was that slavery is no longer an issue in the US, it's outdated because your country has evolved. If that's true then surely anyone can see that gun ownership is not necessary to guard against Britain, or whoever, invading and overthrowing your government.
