Helen Mirren again shows the amazing range of her talent and confirms- to me at least- that she is the finest actress working today and among the greatest ever.

Just a few days ago I watched a piece called Painted Lady, originally shown on Masterpiece Theater, where Ms. Mirren plays a burned out ex rock singer of the sixties (think Janis Joplin) and she was absolutely convincing in the role, so imagine the sweep of imagination that can take her from a junkie in New York to Balmoral Castle without straining credibility.

I love this woman.
