You'll prob have to turn down the settings.

On another subject, heres what you have to do to play on an cracked online server:

Browse to:
C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file, and add a line:
127.0.0.1 idnet.ua-corp.com

hay can we play this doom 3 baby online once we dload it, if so. How?

But is there much of a difference between high and medium settings?

You can but only on cracked servers. You wont be able to see any games when you go to the multi-player option, you will need the ip address of the person(s) you want to play with. If you want to still play online heres how:

Do what it says in my last post.
Start up Doom 3
Go to MP
Type in IP address of the person hosting the game
Wait for it to connect

ya? is there a way to uncap it or something? i used some tweaks without losing visual/graphical quality. now no matter what i&#39;m up against (even 5 guys) or if i&#39;m in a very detailed place, my fps never drop below 55 fps, and during everything else it&#39;s always 59 and 60 (and i&#39;ve even seen it go as high as 62 but drop quickly back down to 60). anyway i can uncap it from 60 and say, set it to 70 or maybe even 80?


here&#39;s a tweak that really helped:

In your DOOM 3 directory, find "DoomConfig.cfg" (Doom 3&#092;base). Open DoomConfig.cfg in Notepad or Wordpad or watever you use.

Find the line: (use the find function, much much faster)

seta image_cacheMegs "X" (X is either 32 or 20, depends on what machine you have)

I changed mine from 32 to 256. FPS went through the roof&#33; I was gettin 40 max, and now it&#39;s 60 constantly (avg). I upped it to "512" and that&#39;s when i noticed it go to 62 FPS, and i&#39;m sure it can go higher if i knew how to uncap it. replace "32" or "20" to half of your total ram for best results but remember, "experiment" cuz wat works for me might not necesserally work for as good for you. more tweaks to come.

would doom 3 run nice and smooth on high/med settings on this system?

I think its because it makes very little difference to the graphics, but the FPS drop a bit.

Just played the first half an hour of Doom 3. To cut things short: I am scared shitless&#33;&#33; I was sitting in the dark and playing with headphones...which explains a lot. Anyway, here&#39;s my rating after playing 30 mins:

Graphics: Kick ass&#33;&#33; I play on 640x... and with everything on low (laptop) and it still looks good.

Atmosphere: I wish my mami would hold my hand right now, and I&#39;m 22&#33;&#33;&#33; &#39;Nough said...

Story: Must survive and hunt eavil scary monsters....or whatever&#33; Who cares about the story anyways?

Overall: 94/100 (add 3 if stoned)

Doom 3 rules:

1. Never, i repeat, NEVER forget your flashlight&#33;

2. Watch your back (and front, and sides, and above), those lovely creatures come from everywhere.

3. Play with all lights shut off&#33; Smoke a big fat blunt (or not if you&#39;re non-smoker)...

4. Quit your job, you won&#39;t have time for it anymore... :D

hey, i dotn know if this question was asked already (its 35 pages to read...). but I got doom 3, and when i use the no cd crack the console loads up and then gets stuck.. it says something about opengl and that it cant find default.cfg. i have a radeon 9800 pro, and i have the latest drivers, so i dotn think its the card. can anyone please help me out?

@Tormentor-It gave me a few extra FPS but I need to do a litte more experimenting.

A few fps is always a good thing, especially when you have a mx440 :)

ya, u should be able to run it, like i said "experiment" like theres no tomorrow, i ended up getting a 105% FPS gain from that cachemegs tweak and another im currently playing around with. if anyone is interested just PM me and i&#39;ll gladly send the new tweak ur way (btw, the new tweak no allows me to basically keep it at 60-62 fps throughout the game, no matter how many enemies or detail, works like a charm, maybe i can get a job at iD :lol: )

like i said, change the vars around until u find the "perfect" setting, but sometimes it doesn&#39;t work as you can see for yourself if you head over to planetdoom forums. the "other tweak" you can try and see for yourself, it sure did do some miracles on my crappy comp:

no, execing performance.cfg (or watever the file name is) IS the confirmation, so wat i was trying to say is if u get any other prompt either then the "execing performance.cfg" then its an error, but execing performance.cfg is wat ur looking for, i suggest u also type vid_restart after you get the prompt execing performance.cfg for better FPS.

ahhh, i am stuck. anybody at the part where you have to get a plasma gun or something for this guy that says "hurry theres not much time left" its one of the delta levels. well i see the plasma gun thingy, BUT i need a frickin code to open the door, and i have searched EVERYWHERE for a frickin pda or something that has a code for me to use to open the damn door.

anybody know where the pda is or can someone just tell me the code. theres a name on the door, i think its somethin like Chief Abraham, im guessing the PDA has that name on it.

wtf? i got the plasma way way way b4 i even got to the delta levels (this was the part where you had to replace the reactor coolant or something, don&#39;t remember.) but anyways, it was in a locker, i don&#39;t remember teh code, but it sure as hell wasn&#39;t during the delta levels (i just finished delta part 1 where u get off the monorail). i&#39;ll go look for it on my pda, i&#39;ll be back in say 10 minutes or so

oh ok, then i don&#39;t know wat it is because i&#39;m only at delta sector 1 (ur 1 level ahead). all i could come up with was the code for BFG9000 (sadly not in my possesion :angry: ). code 901 (but the "security" changed it to 931 cuz 0 is an invalid code number). lmfao, anybody else see that part where your walking down these stairs and the screen keeps turning red and when u get near the door at the end of the stairs a thing bites it out but then everything seems to be ok and 2 of those imps show up and u gotta kill em, anyways, rite after that you gotta crawl thru a tunnel and wat really made me literally laugh my ass off (it hurt :( ) was how that skeleton moved to the right by itself and then you can hear someone laughing very awkardly, "oh no&#33;&#33; behold my powers for i&#39;ve moved a skeleton" lmao, i don&#39;t know why but that&#39;s just funny, maybe sleep deprivation? and weirdest of all was this happened at 4:30 am no lights on, door locked and headphones with full blast sound, i shoulda been scared but i just laughed, is there something wrong with me? :( :( :( :blink: :helpsmile: :frusty: :frusty:

omg, i got that pda so long ago, i remember it (cuz you brought it up) but i did completely forget about it&#33; anyways, now i got the bfg, and this is one kick ass gun. remind me of the first turok nuke gun. hehe, sweeeeet..
