There seems to be a misapprehension here.

This forum is not the lounge, most people care not one jot about the lounge. It is a large place with many areas.

It is a community of people who discuss file sharing, using many p2p progs, hardware, software, music, movies, games, books and goodness knows what else.

People (good members or not) leaving the lounge has the same effect as removing a handful of water from a bucket. You don&#39;t notice the difference. The forum doesn&#39;t even notice that people are gone, other than others who frequent the lounge.

Most of these other forums of which people speak are simply lounges with sub sections. I do not say that is a bad thing, it is merely my perception, it is not comparing like with like.

This forum is huge and sustained because it serves a purpose for a lot of people (who recommend it to others). It is not just a chat room, serving no useful purpose in and of itself. Like I often say - to each their own.
