Let him learn to be responsible for his own life.

I was expected to cook my own breakfast and get myself to school at the age of 5.

My mother didn't wake up until I was out the door.

Edit: I think she did knock on the wall when I was supposed to be getting up, then she would fall asleep again. She would hit the wall a few times and I would have to respond.

Its hard tho, you want better for your own children. I'd be satisfied with them cleaning there own room. I'v lived a hard life , on my own since I was 15 , but learned its hard to implement with our own little ones.
