Gen's
1st Gen iPods are really old and only hold somthing like 5 gig
they don't have a click wheel, and it uses firewire to transfer data...
these were created quite a while ago, they just weren't needed back
then because 1. no one had fast internet to download enough music to
fill it and 2.there wasn't a decient Operating System that could hold up long
enough to transfer a file... :lol: (joke)

2nd Gen iPod's are kinda like the 1st gen with just a couple updates like
bigger hard-drive options (10gig, 20gig)
the 3rd Gen iPod was the one that really took off...
these ones have a touch sensored selection wheel & button's and with red led's
for the buttons and a blueish one for the LCD blacklight... this iPod also came with
high speed usb connector cables...

The ipod is more expensive becuase design and brand.
Is a Ford Touarous when equiped the same as a BMW M5 the same price. Dont think so. They may go both as fast but the brand and design is where lots of $ goes.

Just to add to add to that, after the 4th gen came the mini ipod (5 or 6gig hard drive i ithink, they're a lot smaller and less easy to scratch, plus cheaper).
After that came the ipod photo whih had a color screen and could store photos.
Then about 2 or 3 months ago all 4th gen ipods started coming out in color screens instead of black and white.
Then the ipod nano came out just a few weeks ago which replaces the mini. It looks like the regular ipod only lighter and skinnier, and it holds less space. This one uses flash emmory instead of a hard drive so the battery lasts a lot longer.

They should have kept the ipod mini too. Why did they make a 6GB and then like a few months later get rid of the whole line?
I liked the mini and the colors.

:lol: yeah i forgot bout the other types of iPods... but i've heard that the nano is a no go (sorry bout the pun) anyway there is surpost to be a problem with the ipod nano... it is said that it scratches extreamly easy, and when i heard about the scratching problem i was like wtf are they whineing for everything gets scratches but ppl have said to me that they get so scratched that the screen is distorted and almost impossible to read...
