Key factors to system slowdown "NOT" caused by slow hardware:
1. File Fragmentation
2. Spyware
3. Viruses
4. Corrupt Registry Entries
5. Too many system tray/background programs open

Now if you can eliminate all 5 of those, your computer will be faster.
