Maybe the problem is with windows, like with many programs.
Did u try the codecs ?
Re: Looking for Virtualdub version that still has support for wmw
just curious what you are trying to do with the file and if it can be accomplished with other software......possibly with tmpgenc or a program called steeper....As this seems to be more trouble than its worth LOL :)

True. :P
Just want to do some basic editing (cut/paste, extract frames,...)
It's that I'm used to/like working with Vdub that I want it for wmv as well.
Re: Looking for Virtualdub version that still has support for wmw
why not convert to mp3? then if needed back to wmv?

mp3 is audio and wmv is video.

Well like I mentioned Steeper 1.2 looks very promising
""Steeper enables you to repair, modify, join and cut out fragments from ASF and WMV files.
It is based upon and is using ASFCut, a commandline utility by RadioActive.
Steeper requires Window Media Services at least with version 9.0.
Here are some key features of "Steeper":
· - Repair damaged files
· - Join two or more files
· - Cut out fragments from file
· - Set attributes for file
· - Play file ""
Give it a try looks promising, maybe easier then finding virtualdub 1.2 that works...
