the sentimental value alone will get you at least a couple hundred each
I made my own mask one time, years ago. I have it all documented on video.
I ordered a special kit from Hollywood. The exact same stuff they used for special effects in movies. Like the movie "Mrs. DoubtFire", and "The Nutty Professor".
Basically, I had a friend help me make a plaster "negative" mold of my face (and head). Then, from that mold, I made a "positive" bust of myself. Kind of looked like a death mask, if you are amiliar with those. It was eerie to look at myself, in a plaster duplicate.
Next, I got modeling clay and designed an alien looking "mask" on my plaster face/head. Allpied the clay very thin around the eyes and mouth area.
Then, I casted plaster onto the clay, in a box, to create a huge 30 lb. block. After the plaster hardened, I seperated the two pieces and removed the clay.
Now I have a complete mold to create a real-life make that fits only me.
Next, I injected the plaster mold with the special liquid foam rubber (from Hollywood). Then I had to cook it in the oven for 8 hours. Yep, the whole block and all!
After the rubber cured, I applied coloring and makeup. Then I had to glue the mask onto my face (with spirit gun). The thin rubber aorund my eyes and mouth makes the mask look realistic, showing every facial expression. A little extra makeup in those areas, and the mask comes alive!
This was a cool project!
