I've gone to the range and that's about it.
I don't really see gun use as a recreational activity. I see them more as a last resort for protection in a life threatening situation. Guns are available when and if I need them and nothing more. I don't see how people covet them as if they are some type of god or something.

I am always horrified by the language of those who feel the need to own a small arsenal - it is as if they expect the plot of every weird B movie to play out in their backyard.

That's the sort of thing. Having a Browning heavy machine gun would in that case be handy. However, the fact there are no giant man eating worms seems to have escaped these people.
