;) I have to Post a opinion on this.Even though I do not have kids and if I did I would not use a Belt or my fist with them untell the brat turned into a Teenage Punk.
But God put fat on our Ass for many reasons and one of them was for disciplining.Now being that a child is 2 years old maybe I would not as it is my responsibility at that age to keep an eye on them.But from 3 to about 12 their Ass would be mine.

my Dad used to used to whack me with a 3 foot bamboo cane across my arse and thighs, it always put me straight back in line when i broke the TV or something

Yeah, light negative deterrents accompanied by positive reinforcement. Kids react well to rewards or praise - it's the greed/vanity factor...
that's right, monkeys learn to chose the button that will not shock it.
