Wow, I see your point.

Supposedly kiddie-pron is one of two things they remove when they see, but there are some torrents on that list that make me uncomfortable to say the least. And not all are particularily recent either.
Their excuse, from what I understand, is that there's a hell of a lot of torrents being submitted, and some slip through. But I'd have thunk people knew how to report that evil shit anyways :ermm: Another problem is that the dubious torrents I notice are passed off as art, rather than pornography. Tricky stuff, censoring art :dabs: (Although personally I'd delete any such torrents since I really don't reckon it's art (and even if it was, it's exploiting minors), and tell the users uploading them they weren't welcome anymore.)
They do have one valid point, however, and that is that a public tracker is a pretty fucking stupid place to share those files, might even be an ideal place to catch any idiots sharing the stuff without proxying up properly. (And obviously, TPB is only hosting torrents, not the material itself :dabs:)
Not sure the police is interested in fairness here, however, since they don't seem willing to explain exactly which torrents are wrong according to them.
From what I understand (from elsewhere, and I see it's in that post as well), they aren't even willing to talk with TPB's representatives, when they could have outlined which torrents were considered child pornography, making it very simple for TPB to point to that when "censoring art".
And finally, to compound the issue, one organisation compiling/submitting to the list is a private one, not part of the police.
EDit: the end result of this, however, will be that a whole lot of people who previously didn't have a clue on how to bypass this child pornography-filter will learn how to do it.
Sick shit, TPB operators are obviously very fucked up individuals for ignoring this! Some of it clearly labeled, in the top 100 and uploaded for many months.. i mean for fuck sakes, its not like its all just recently been up'd and hard to find. What other reasons a site have to allow child porn to be distributed other than it supporting child abuse, or wanting to profit from its users. Just read PRQ which is owned by the founders of TPB also hosts a site which defends paedophilia (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/06...ts_dodgy_site/)... Not that i ever use TPB but I for sure wont be using em or any affiliates again, twisted cunts....
And yet the police aren't shutting that down, or filtering it
Why is it up? Because it doesn't contain anything illegal, according to swedish law. Hence, taking them down would be (not legally required) censorship, and of an allegedly political site at that.
It's fucked up, but it's legal, and contains no kiddie-porn.
And since TPB/PRQ seems borderline fanatic when it comes to freedom of speech, I suppose they can't refuse business when it's not illegal. I guess they also reckon that once we start censoring opinions that aren't actually against the law because we find them distasteful, someone else, with something less distasteful to say, might be next.
I suppose letting the sick fucks have a say raises public awareness, and reading what they have to say might well hurt them. I hope.
As for the rest, TPB claims they report all instances of actual child pornography to the police (and takes it down), so I guess what's left for any length of time is stuff that can't clearly be classified as child pornography :ermm:
Personally, I say the fucker running the pedo-site should stop hiding in anonymity. If he wants his say, he should damned well do it as himself.
"TPB/PRQ seems borderline fanatic when it comes to freedom of speech"
They support the rights of these bastards to spread their sick message but what about the basic human rights of the children they abuse and who's lives they ruin?? They are as you say fanatic about freedom of speech and show no regard for the impact that speech has. However I wonder if terrorists were at war with sweden and started hosting material on TPB encouraging suicide bombing etc. of sweden if TPB would still defend to the death the right of freedom of speech.. Like fuck they would! Simple fact about this ugly world is that its better some people are not heard.
Police take credit wrongfully
Hej!
(Short translation to english: The child porn filter list distributed this week will NOT contain the pirate bay)
They claim that their work has been successful when trying to rid the Internet of child porn. I want to point out that still to this day, the police has not given us one single hint on what content on the site has been containing child porn - and the things we have filtered out has been proven not to be child porn either. So wtf? What is this content their talking about?
We are currently thinking about filing charges against the responsible police officer for slander or official misconduct, and we will continue to investigate the actions they have taken.
More information will follow as soon as we have any.
Source: Pirate Bay Blog
according a few sources people have been reporting possible child porn on the pirate bay blog which have promptly been removed.
this user for instance is mentioned on the blog and funnily now has no torrents posted a few days later.
how the pirate bay can now stand up and say we removed nothing and what you said is libelous is just plain stupid. agreed the police should tell tpb of any suspect content and if they then refuse to remove it then they end up on this list.
