does it move at all? Perhaps there's too much friction at your hinges where the unit swings.
So how do you make it work? And what is not working for you?
So do you basically have a battery, the stand, the turning coil, and the magnet? Is that all thats needed to make this work.

Aparently yes, but it wont work. Im going to go out and get some different magnets and see if it makes a difference.
Right now I'm using a D cell battery...should I be using something else?

does it do anything at all? Do you have the magnet off centre as in the vid, otherwise it'll do nothing.. also thick wire will help as you need as much current as possible
btw the battery will go flat in no time as you're basically shorting it.
edit: if in doubt try a 9V battery
