yes i think all duracells are alkaline, unless they make rechargable ones or ones for cameras etc.

and chalky, if any stomach acid does come into contact with any alkali in his stomach there will be a small endothermic reaction.
basically, it will be nothing, he will not even notice, though it has the potential to burn his stomach
this will not happen though, he is relatively safe
