I got the question but just use the Dam Nfo one myself . :D
No offense to the OP just never really thought about it much . NotePad sucks so went looking for a better one ,as all I use it for is reading keys or install instructions .

I use UltraEdit. It's definitely overkill for NFOs, but if you do a lot of web programming it is a nice editor with FTP support built-in.
