Re: Modding X-Box 360 ? Help?
you must open up your 360 and look at the dvd drive model written on the dvd drive itself. If you actually go to the link i posted you can find most of the answers to your question. Judging by the manufacturer date i'd say you have the 0079fk/0079fl drive which require modchips for the dvd drive itself before you can flash the firmware. And posting the serial number of your xbox is never really a smart idea.
Re: Modding X-Box 360 ? Help?
to date no one has been banned using the new iXtreme software. games don't even load if they are not stealthed. if you want go to creigslist to find someone to mod your 360!
huh...never even heard of mod chips with the 360?
Re: Modding X-Box 360 ? Help?
so if you never heard of mod chip for 360.... than what do u suggest than? I dont like the idea of trusting a stranger with something that i payed so much for just like to know how to mod it just to play burned games nothing more kinda of like a soft mod nothing more one person said all i had to do was flash the drive.
the link u posted was to paypal?

if you read the tutorial word for word, then you can decide for yourself if you are comfortable flashing the drive or having someone do it for you. I was able to flash my BenQ drive with little difficulty, the main hard part was opening the xbox 360 for the first time.
Re: Modding X-Box 360 ? Help?
Yea, use the textbook. Best all in one source of info. Also get Easy Xbins for downloading tools and firmware.
I love the benq drives :) Easy, plus they seams to read the best and are the quietest.
If ur gonna DIY. Get yourself one of these. With that and my power drill, I can open 360s in just under 30 sec. :D Those + a benq drive total mod time is like 5 min  But my pen drive is already setup for the mod so it cuts down the time
Re: Modding X-Box 360 ? Help?
Are you sure it's a Hitachi man?
With that MFR date I'm guessing that your Lot number is around 0807 (don't need your serial number so you should re-edit ur post). The Lot number is found on the white sticker on the outside of the actual box.
Anyway, if it really is an Hitachi then it is most likely firmware version 79 (based on your MFR date) which requires a passkey to be soldered onto the drive...unfortunately this is the only way for v79 (all other versions of Hitachi can be modded through a soft mod).
Textbook has an excellent guide which explains everything about the different firmware versions and etc.
You can find it here: http://www.360mods.net/Downloads/details/id=61.html
The only way that you can be 100% sure that you have v79 firmware is by actually openning up your xbox (beware that you lose warranty) and reading the info in the white sticker on the drive.
Re: Modding X-Box 360 ? Help?
you can preserve the warranty of your xbox by using a blow dryer and a sharp object to remove the sticker.
