like a mexican strat vs usa strat, looks the same, but doesn't sound quite the same, and not even mentionning all the other 200$ clones that looks just like the original

but you can be lucky and find a really nice sounding clone strat in the bunch

can't really expect the same quality when paying 500$ vs 1500$

Put a a better pickup in an Epiphone Les Paul and you will not notice the difference in the quality of sound - between the two.
