They prefer mice (only the heads, they leave the rest), worms, snails, small birds and the occasional frog.
Some cats are natural swimmers, and love the water. The Turkish van cat is one. I've got one of them.

i used to have a cat who would come and sit on my belly when I was in the bath so it was half submersed into the hot water. It then would fall asleep like that. Genious.
