The NVidia G84 GPU (8600GT chipset) has a 128bit data bus, and as far as I am aware XFX never supplied a 1GB model ?

Oops .. u r rite its a 128but bus ...
there was a 1gb model for 8600GT or some other prefix model in 8600 series .. though not sure if it was from XfX ..
but its a overkill from any angle

do u plan on gaming man?

I suggest you try and OC that proc to 3.5ish. If you plan to do moderate-heavy gaming, I suggest getting a radeon 4850, or 260 gtx core 216.

There's no reason to do any major upgrades a this point. You can wait until new nehalm products arrive, or the current procs/mobo drops in price.
