In the post I wrote but didn't submit to the other thread, I suggested cat5, or cat6 if he's got gigabit internets. True story. And not cross wired, like.
I think I looked at that link you posted, though, and while cat6 would work, there's no point to it, cat5 will be fine.
(It's usually just local networks wot run that fast anyways.)
Re: (2nd Try) What type of cable is this?
I'll just take a moment to point out that Cat5 and Cat5E are not the same animal.
So while Cat5 MAY do the job, the difference in price between Cat5 and Cat5E isn't sufficient to make it worthwhile taking a risk.
That's always assuming that the sample cable wasn't over specified in the first place of course.
Re: (2nd Try) What type of cable is this?
I thought it was basically the same thing, but with higher tolerance :idunno:
Re: (2nd Try) What type of cable is this?
thanks, all i want is him to connect.
He has paid for his connection it is working, but it just missing the main bloody CAT5EZXL153 wire connection.
but your right.. it is good info you give.
but would the fucker of an electrician who did a half ass job (did not even put the box against the wall)would he not have said something that the CAT5E wire is not correct?
He connected it and left.
So in conclusion, the answer is the same - he must contact the isp to find out the correct cable needed.
