No harm ,no foul.You obviously have no experience in such things so no one should hold it against you.
I suggest you open a thread in the bt general section and ask which sites are a good alternative to BitMe .You should then get some ideas on what is available .Be honest and friendly and with any luck someone might invite you to one.
Btw just so it's clear just inquire ,no asking for invites except in the proper section.;)
