To be honest, I haven't researched that so I can't say. But I would guess that the dip in job growth, if there was one, had nothing to do with the tax policies, and it would probably would have been worse without the tax cuts-- in fact, as my cousin just said to me right now while I am typing this... the tax cuts were in response to the recession caused by 9/11. So they were not the cause of the dip, but a response to the dip, and the dip probably would have been worse without them.
And now, Can you actually deny this:
"So, if a small business has to pay more money in taxes, they then don't have that money to expand their business and hire more people. And if they pass the cost on to consumers, consumers will buy less of their product or service, which in turn, hurts the business."
Re: Extending the Bush Tax Cuts
Oh, and let's not forget about the worst housing crisis ever, that might have something to do with the dip.

We don't have the "highest standard of living in the world" by any stretch of the imagination.
And, Donald Trump?
Christ, that moron has created a myth about his business prowess that only another moron would buy.
Furthermore, how is it exactly that a rise in tax rate of less than 5% qualifies as "huge"?
Edit:
Your cousin is wrong.
The Bush tax cuts were enacted in June 2001...three months prior to 9/11.

And there is no way for us to outsource any part of our business overseas. We're stuck with the tax bill and all the federal regulations which run up costs, as well.
Koch Industries is classed a small business, last year I payed more tax than citigroup, bankk of America and GE combined. You family business probably pays less tax under the Obama administration than it did under Bush.
And no, not everyone pays the same amount of taxes like you stated. The vast majority of the people getting government "entitlements" like welfare, medicaid, social security, etc., pay little or no federal taxes at all. Some of them even get "Earned Income Tax Credits" where they actually get money back from the government after having paid no taxes whatsoever. It is redistribution of wealth.
Yes everyone pays the same amount and if the upper rates are not extended everyone still gets the same tax cut extension, even millionaires.
Millionaires pay the same amount on $199,999 as I do. Actually they probably pay a lower effective rate after their accountant figures out all the loopholes.
A flat tax would take care of that. They would have to pay a percentage of their income, no matter what the source, nor how much they make, back to the feds in taxes. Then they would feel the bite from taxes and maybe they would not feel so giddy about raising taxes. Right now they vote for people who promise to give them aid and government services, and they don't care how much it costs the government because they don't pay any taxes at all. They are essentially voting themselves raises by voting for Democrats.
The poor feel the bite of not being able to afford things that other take for granted. The poor probably have a job(often more than one) with a company that doesn't offer healthcare or offers such expensive bad policies that they can't afford to participate.

We don't have the highest standard of living.... hmmm... so that's why people are dying in the desert trying to come here illegally.
I would rather have Donald Trump-- who actually has some business experience-- run our country, than some ivy tower socialist who learned everything he needed to know about running the world's largest economy from Marxist textbooks.

5% is huge, depending upon how much money your business makes.

The poor don't pay taxes. Under my flat tax plan, they would pay taxes, so they could see that voting for democrats with big spending programs will just get them higher taxes.
And talk about being fair-- everyone who lives in this country should pay at least some taxes. It is ridiculous for them to not pay anything at all in Federal taxes. They need to have some stake in the system so they know their voting has very real consequences for them in terms of taxes.

So, your definition of "highest standard of living" is based on whether impoverished Mexicans want to come here?
If Mexico shared a border with other nations that actually do have a higher standard of living, where do think they would go?
5% is huge, depending upon how much money your business makes.
5% is 5%, regardless of income.

You can have Donald Trump. He is trying to buy half of Scotland at the moment.:(
Sour grapes are about five per cent.

If history repeats itself (and for Trump it already has, multiple times) he'll declare bankruptcy soon and leave your fair country...along with all his creditors.

They pay state tax, city tax (even if they rent), sales tax etc.

The vast majority of conservatives vote for the guy who wants to enforce their social agenda. See how far a pro choice pro stem cell pro gay rights atheist or just for spice, Muslim, republican candidate gets even if he's anti tax.
