I guess your right, but it hasent affected any of my MP3s. None of them have a lisence. I have burned them and copied them to other computers with no problem. DRM doesn't affect you if you disable it.

you can't with wmp9, its there and its against the law to tamper with it or deny it updates, just have a look at preferences, you can't turn it off, you can't even turn off updatesQuote:

you are probably just better off not using it, I rather be safe knowing I don't have it, rather that to have it and not know if its still sending info, and changing headers or anything
Sure you can disable it. Options> Copy Music> uncheck "Copy Protect Music". It's that simple.

in fact there building longhorn around drm, so in the future you don't even have the option NOT to have it

WMP does not allow them to change some important settings. Careful reading of the EULA reveals it is actually illegal to prevent the automatic updating. Presumably its part of the renewability system.
