I don't think people would be getting as upset if he was beating her for being a furry.

I've seen this kind of sick fuck first-hand. Even before reading the comments regarding the mother, I already knew that part, too. It is a bad situation. Even now that she is an adult, she still needs to get far, far away from that "man". Nothing good will EVER come form a truly messed up individual. He deserves jail time. With a cell mate who has dominance issues, of his own... :whistling
