I guess we must have been too poor for a Commodore 64. I only ever recall having an Atari 2600, and I only ever remember playing E.T. on it.

So, how do you steal music legally?
Oh yes, I forget that taxation is a legal form of theft.
Maybe we should tax the artists, then we can have their music without breaking the law.
As for using the word 'stealing', nothing has been stolen. A copy has been made, I agree, but the original works still remains with the author or publisher, and nothing has actually been stolen.
How many Mona Lisa prints are there around the world? The original still resides in the Louvre, but there are millions of prints. No one complains about this copying though.
Making a copy, or facsimile, of something has become commonplace these days. We record programs transmitted to our TVs using VHS, Recordable DVD or Hard Drives without penalty. Our conversations can be recorded when we dial into many businesses, and we can send copies of documents using a facsimile (fax) machine.
So, why not make copies of music? Is it because they want us to pay them for a copy? And why is the price so high. Surely the medium used for the copy is only a fraction of the price we are charged (50p a disk). Why is some music over £10 an album? Also, why is a digital download only slightly cheaper than the equivalent CD and case? I know CDs are cheap, but we have to factor in manufacturing and shipping, which all adds up to the cost (diesel, labour charges, administrative costs, cocaine allowances etc).
The simple fact is that music is way too expensive for what it is, which is nothing more than a sound recording. The reason these sound recordings are so expensive is that it has become a lucrative market selling names that many of us love.
I still cannot believe that every time they play a record on the radio, a royalty fee has to be paid to the publisher, regardless of the age of the recording.
The music industry has made a business model that earns them a perpetual income, and they are desperate to protect that income, even if it means creating laws that will push society back into the Dark Ages of feudalism.
This enslavement of the human race, for the benefits of the few, has to be stopped before RIAA invade any more countries. They have already conquered Iraq and Afghanistan. Who is next?
