The pirate party in Germany had up to 10 % representation in their parliament at one point. So, it's not unthinkable. The focus would be on the protection of consumers from overzealous corporate interests.

Ahhh we could get into a very long debate here, about American 'freedoms' and in particular your two party system and the fact that only lobby groups with a large amount of cash and support hold any real sway on government policy, suffice to say, I know of nowhere else in the world where domestic freemdoms have been so dramatically curbed by foreign insurgency, as in the U.S. in the last twelve years.

You unsurprisingly missed the point of my post. I guess that's the way I know you're not an imposter.

You should, however, know better than to assume I was trying to put some kind of pro U.S. spin, Art. So, the question I embedded went unanswered, and I had to go look it up myself, thanks a lot.

The thing I was trying to recall was not in fact the lack of governmental protections of free speech and press around the world (i.e., I didn't recall it accurately), but rather the delay in which they were adopted by many developed countries. That, and the fact that the UK has very strict antidefamation rhetoric in their laws regarding free speech.

If you wanted to get into a debate about violations in the US, you'd find me at your podium demonstrating a better understanding of the violations and ongoing assaults here. It's only natural since I pay attention to what has been going on (both the present and past) as it relates to my nation of residence. Similarly, you'd be more well versed in the nuances on matters Zoolander.
