If your board supports SATA, then by all means go for it.
It's a little pricier ( although I'm starting to see some larger SATA units that arent too bad) and is faster.
The cabling is a real big bonus, too.
seagate sata drives though..... i think lamsey said that the other brands were just regular hdds with an ide2sata connector inthe inside.....
its a conspiracy against the world!!!!
Although you are correct DWk, Seagate is the only "true" SATA drive of the three, it's not any faster than the hybrid SATAs from WD and Maxtor.
There is a comparison in the new issue of MaximumPC.
Yup, as I remember it just means they're a little more effecient and slightly cheaper to make.Quote:

Basically, we hardly push our current IDE spec drives to their limit now.
The biggest practical improvement is the cabling probably.
You might consider getting a smaller SATA as your active drive and a IDE bigboy as a storage drive.
u mean we gotta overclock the hdds? :D
btw... u gotta send me the MaximumPC issue, clocker.....both this and fans are things that im really interested :D
Sadly, you will actually have to buy a hardcopy for yourself.Quote:
