Well, I figured that if I get a monster now, it should serve me for most things at full for at least 1 and a half years. After that, if it still runs mediocre, then great!

Typically I see flash graphics and hyper, aggressive names attached to machinery that can't back it up.
All show, no go.
I prefer the "sleeper" approach.
The NASCAR engine hiding in a beater Rambler.
A couple of months ago on the BitTech forum I saw a rig that perfectly illustrated this thinking.
His hardware was absolute state of the art, but the case was intentionally made to look like the biggest POS you have ever seen.
The paint job simulated rust and fungus and dents.
The window glass was crazed and hazy.
He had extra rat's nest wiring that did nothing- just looked like hell.
In short, were this thing on fire you probably wouldn't piss on it to put it out.
People would laugh until he fired it up and kicked their ass with it.
It was hilarious.
