Hmmm. Maybe if your motherboard is pretty new you could send it back...and get a diff mobo.
Has the CPU been used on another board or is it new also? If it's new then CPU could be faulty.

I know it dosnt support it because i googled it and it said it dosnt on like 5 sites, and its a Athlon 1800+ Palamino, o and the mobo is a chaintech 7nif2
I don't think his CPU would be locked.I have an XP 1900+ that has the Palomino core and it isn't locked.

If it's locked it would be locked at 11.5 so that's not the problem.
