if your HDD can't handle 30 temp files at 700 MB each then compress the contents of your temp folder. you have to have an NTSF file structur on xp to do this.

I would recommend this regardless of whether or not ur currently has the space for the 30 files. First, why use the extra space if u don't need to? Second, this frees up more space to make files available for sharing. The second fact may not increase ur speed if these files r not related to those that ur looking to dl, but these networks r all about sharin', aren't they? ;)

hey miner, ive been doing that yer :P downloading a lot of files at the same time, its kinda been working.

also how do i compress the folder?? i have xp of the NTFS thing :(

Navigate to your C:\Program Files\edonkey\Temp folder, or wherever you store your partials, then do the following:

-right-click on your temp folder and select properties

- in the general tab press the advanced button

- now put a check beside Compress contents to save disk space

when i first did this it took 15 minutes and freed up 4 GB. 5 months later it looks like this

Credits are what you get when ppl upload from you, its stored on their computers and will improve your rank in their queue when you want to d/l something off them. Switch to eMule or Overnet lite if you want to get rid of spyware/adware.

there is no spyware in edonkey as long as you uncheck these 4 boxes during the setup process.

did you actually find spyware/adware though ad-aware or spybot. i know i didn't.

hey miner, last night i was downloading photoshop cs at 35KB/s wow!! lol

i have taken your advice and am downloading around 30 programs at the moment and hence my lowest total speed is about 20kb/s but sometimes it gets going to around 40kb/s

its still taking me 3+ days to download a 700mb file, but at least its gonna take me 3+ days to download 5 of those :blink:

hey, that's great. emule will complete a lot of downloads every night once you run it for long enough. i completed 5 last night and 7 the night before that.
