Check your harddrive with diagnostic diskette from its makers web page.
I don't know if you reformated or not but try reformatting in NTFS.
Has your Windows CD worked before? Maybe it's defective (corrupt files). If not get a new copy.

thx people for the help people, i did a format. i'll check the link for the site. what's the difference between ntfs and fat32 anyways?

thanks for that info! guess what? for some strange reason win xp installed. perfectly fine (if i only knew why...), then i installed some drivers programs which required a restart, i said ok. get the same mistake as before, but after i tried restarting a few times rhe computer booted up, since i have to put XP on again later anyways, i guess it's good that i know this stuff now. thanks for the help you people gave me.

I have this problem all the time
so i now use the boot disk method - works everytime
(although a little bit slower)

there are also boot disc for xp pro sp1 and home xp sp1 bootdiscs :) :)
