you run fdisk by typing in fdisk at the command prompt. then delete all partitions and recreate them then restart and format and put in xp cd again or 98 cd and try to install.Quote:

I will try it i guess, I cant delete the partion because i dont have a volume label
Has that Windows XP CD been sucessfully used before or is it the first attempt?
Perhaps the CD is corrupt?
try a ram test.Bad ram will almost always screw up your operating system install.I have had the same problems in the past.

I created a partiton and it still wont take xp or any other os i try to use, what can i do to resolve this problem?
I format the harddrive but xp wont install trying to do 98se now thanx
go into BIOS and make sure the hard drive is being detected and also that the settings for cylinders, heads etc. are set to the values printed on teh label of your hard drive.
Where in bios is it located? I am formating now after this is done what do i need to do to install a clean install of win xp?
