i am using slax 4 . 0.1

i need help in using internt in it its a lve cd btw but i cant et internet to work in it the modem says its not connected to a pc and the modem works in win xp home

What kind of modem?

It should have been hotplugged or autoconfigured when you booted slax.

If it's a winmodem (most likely internal), then you're fucked out of luck.
