Not content with decrying charitable Christian organisations, he now has to have a go at the poor Easter Bunny. My kids are covered top to tail in chocolate as I type. They are quiet. Thank Christ!Quote:

I still wanna know WTF Jesus being nail to some wood and doing a David Blaine a couple of days later has to do with Chocolate Eggs
   Thats funny
But none of you can answer that question can you? :) :P

Easter eggs represent a mini version of the stone that Jesus rolled away from his tomb when he came back to life. Eggs hold the seed of new life, and easter represents new life so its natural the two go together.Quote:

Traditionally people painted eggs then went and rolled them down hills, to represent the stone being rolled away from Christ's tomb.Quote:

I think they painted them just to make it more fun and interesting for the children, that is just a guess and may be bunkum.
The chocolate thing is just, as you so rightly say commercialism taking over. It happened to Christmas so why not Easter, which to Christians is the more significant .
As I recall you had a similar rant at Christmas. Are you the anti-Christ at all.
Is this the bit where I come in and annoy everyone by talking about Easter really being the ancient Pagan spring festival which has been bastardised by the Christian religion?
Oh, that would piss people off, wouldn't it.
I'll get me coat.
Indeed Liam, it is the day of Spring solstice. And the eggs represent feritlity :D
Well, the solstice was earlier on in the month in actual fact (I know this because we celebrate the solstice instaed of Easter), but you're right in that Easter replaced that exact festival. As far as it really being a fertility festival, look no further than the bunny ;) .Quote:
