"dude" "man" :x

I been saying Dude and Man since I was about 14, for me it came from Surfing, no other reason, I used to use it to warn or contact people in the line up if I did'nt know their name.
You're in the water and you need to call to someone you don't know, what do you shout?

"Oi"?
"Mate"?
